7-Day Southwest National Parks Road Trip Itinerary
This loop connects three of the Southwest’s biggest names into one manageable week, starting and ending in Las Vegas.
Day 1: Las Vegas to Zion National Park
About a 3-hour drive. Settle into Springdale and take an easy evening walk along the Pa’rus Trail.
Days 2-3: Zion National Park
Full days for The Narrows, Emerald Pools, and, permit permitting, Angels Landing.
Day 4: Zion to Grand Canyon South Rim
Roughly a 4.5-hour drive via Kanab and Highway 89A. Arrive in time for sunset at Mather Point.
Day 5: Grand Canyon South Rim
Drive Desert View Drive in the morning, then hike partway down South Kaibab Trail in the afternoon.
Day 6: Grand Canyon to Las Vegas (via Hoover Dam)
About a 4.5-hour drive. Stop at Hoover Dam for an hour or two on the way back.
Day 7: Buffer / Fly Home
Keep this day flexible in case of weather delays or trail permit timing earlier in the trip.
